Chapter Name: WCD Atlanta Chapter
Event Topic: Georgia State University and the Women Lead Program
Date: February 22, 2016
Details of the Event and Guest Speakers: and Guest Speakers:
Dr. Richard D. Phillips, Dean of J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Nancy R. Mansfield, J.D., Director of the Women Lead Program and Senior Faculty Associate for Women’s Leadership, are joining us to talk about what is going on at. They are most interested in our feedback on a program called Women Lead. We have all heard or read news about Georgia State: US News and World Report Rank GSU fifth in the country among the top “most innovative” universities, and, after the merger GSU will be the largest university in Georgia. The cornerstone component of the Women Lead initiative is “Women Lead in Business,” an innovative, undergraduate course that combines class room lectures with guest speakers, corporate visits, and mentoring opportunities that will equip these students with the confidence to vie for competitive leadership positions. Our own WCD member Connie McDaniel invited Amy Medendorp and Mary to speak to the class. We were very impressed with the students! And another member, Ann-Marie Campbell, who was just promoted to the position of overseeing all US stores for Home Depot, went to Georgia State. She is one of the stellar alum. They have a great story to tell – and they need our input and feedback on the Women Lead program.
