Knock, knock on your boardroom door - “Hello, I am an activist and I am here to help you unlock shareholder value!”
Can an activist be a positive catalyst or an expensive distraction to the CEO and the business? Is this a good or bad thing for your company and what is your reaction as a board member? No company is off limits from the aggressive or polite overtures of shareholder activists. Experts expect to see an increasing number of activist proxy proposals this proxy season and activists are moving from outside agitators to influential insiders. We have assembled a panel of experts from the trenches of board room battles to discuss what types of companies are activist targets, types of activists, defense strategies, negotiation and board member involvement.
The panel moderator will be Rosemary DeVito, KPMG Global lead engagement Partner serving a diverse portfolio of public companies. Panel participants include; The Honorable Cynthia Glassman, public company board member and former Acting Chairman of the SEC,Vanessa C.L. Chang, public company board member and Principal of EL and EL Investments and Renee Soto, Managing Director of the strategic communications firm Sard Verbinnen & Co.
